North Macedonia Thermalling/XC Guiding - August 2022
August 2022. Dates to be confirmed.
Krushevo in the Southern part of what is now North Macedonia is one of the highest towns in the Balkans at ~1350m above sea level. Over the years Krushevo has become a world class paragliding destination and has hosted many top level competitions including World Cup and European Championships. The location is also suitable for lower airtime pilots due to the relatively simple to understand weather conditions, friendly and reliable thermals and an abundance of mountain and flatland flying. This all comes together to make this a perfect place to refine thermalling skills and learn to fly cross country. Prices in North Macedonia for evening meals and drinks are relatively cheap compared to the UK and there are plenty of options in Krushevo.
Who is this trip for?
This trip is ideal for CP+ pilots that are comfortable making their own safety decisions regarding whether to fly (or land) and who can take off (or land) unassisted when required. It's a guided trip where logistics have been taken care of so that we can concentrate on enjoying the local flying, progress with thermalling skills and hopefully make some XC flights as a small group. Weather assessments and daily briefs/debriefs will be given together with radio guidance in flight to help people achieve personal bests. If you are unsure if this trip is for you then please contact us to discuss.
- B & B based accommodation with your own room
- Airport transfers
- Six days of possible guiding
- Live tracking
What’s not included
- Flights to/from UK/Skopje

You will need to be a current BHPA member and also must have additional insurance to cover paragliding. You can get this from a number of places online. I use jsinsurance.co.uk with additional sports cover. Paragliding is covered if you call them although not shown on their website. Alternatively please do some research and find some suitable insurance elsewhere.
You should have your own paragliding equipment which is new or recently and suitable serviced including a glider, reserve parachute, harness, helmet and suitable footwear. A radio and flight instruments that you know how to operate are also essential. Please see https://airsportsparagliding.co.uk/shop/ for a selection of altimeter/varios or other accessories if required.
To make the airport transfers simpler all participants should arrive on the same flight from Gatwick which will be arranged nearer the time. If you are arriving on a different flight then you may need to make your own transfer arrangements. Taxis are available at a reasonable cost.
This flying holiday will cost £895 and a £200 down payment will be required to secure a place with the balance payable nearer the time.
